Your school's marking periods (Semester, Quarters, Trimesters, etc.) should be set up at year-end rollover time.  Decide at that time whether or not you are going to have mid-period progress reports under quarters or trimesters.  Once grades are entered, changing the types of marking periods becomes very difficult if not impossible.

 

From the File menu in the desktop system, click on District Setup and then School Calendar Setup.


The school calendar opens.  Click on the Marking Periods tab.



If marking periods have not been established they need to be set up.

 

Click on the Marking Periods button.




Choose the type of marking period from the menu.




If choosing trimesters, for example, you will be prompted to enter the ending dates of the terms.




You may include progress report sub-periods by check the Include Progress-Report Periods box.  Click OK to create the marking periods.
